Six New APIA Congressional Members Elected

The 113th US Congress made history today, as these six newly elected APIA members represent the largest caucus of APIAs in any single Congressional session.
In other firsts, Senator Mazie Hirono (HI) will be the first Asian American woman elected to the US Senate.
Representative Tammy Duckworth (IL-08) will be Illinois' first Asian American Congressperson -- as will Representative Grace Meng (NY-06), who will be the first Asian American to represent New York in Congress.
Representative Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) will be the first Hindu American and the first Samoan American in US Congress.
Representative Mark Takano (CA-41) will be the first openly gay person of color in Congress.
Returning APIA Congressional members include: Senator Daniel K. Inouye (HI), Representative Judy Chu (CA-32), Representative. Mike Honda (CA-15), Representative Eni Faleomavaega (AS), Representative Colleen Hanabusa (HI-01), Representative Doris Matsui (CA-05), Representative Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan (CNMI), and Representative Robert C. "Bobby" Scott (VA-03).
