California's Online Voter Reg a Big Success

Friday, October 19, 2012

On September 19th, California launched a push-button, online voter registration system, making registering to vote easier than ever. Now the entire process can be completed online, with no need to register in-person or send forms through the mail.*

At the time of launch, over 6 million people in CA were qualified to vote, but had not yet registered. Within the first month of the new system, the Secretary of State reported that over 544,000 people used an online app to register or update their records.

As they make up half of California’s population, APIAs and Latinos could play a big role in this election. CA's voter reg deadline is fast approaching: Monday October 22nd! Don't forget to register to vote here (or update your existing record if you've moved since the last election), and take a pledge to vote (we'll send you 5 free 'VOTE' pins)!
