Happy Lunar New Year!
This year our Comms Designer, Brenda, decided to create an interactive illustration! For some, you can print out the art as is, and others, you can print out and fill in your message and hopes for the new year! LINK for FREE DOWNLOAD HERE.
The languages featured are Chinese, Korean, Uchinaaguchi (Okinawan language), Vietnamese – just some of the cultures that celebrate LNY. All of the phrases say “don’t give up/ keep going”, a message we at 18MR are saying to ourselves for the new year. We may not have covered all cultures who celebrate during this wonderful time, but that’s why you can PRINT YOURS OUT and fill your message for the new year! If you do the latter, please feel free to tag us @18millionrising !
WHAT YOU GET:
- 1 color LNY Dragon with blank space for you to fill in
- 1 B/W LNY Dragon with blank space for you to fill in
- 1 Vietnamese color LNY Dragon
- 1 Okinawan color LNY Dragon
- 1 Korean color LNY Dragon
- 1 Chinese color LNY Dragon
In Chinese culture, the dragon is a protector, often associated with the seas and heaven. So here, the dragon is protecting us as we keep going and keep fighting for liberation.
It is also in black and white in case you don’t have a color printer!
DESIGN NOTES:
I wanted to veer away from the typical Red and Gold color scheme, and since this year is about the Wood Dragon, a symbol of creativity and innovation, and we are an org striving for just change to the world, I think we get to break some traditional rules! The motifs are inspired by ancient Chinese art and our dragon champions our message for the new year!
Go have fun and Happy New Year!
